Where to stay

Sleep downtown, then give the zoo its own drive

Old Market hotels put restaurants and riverfront parks on foot. The arts district is quieter but remains close to downtown, while the convention district shortens the trip to the ballpark, arena, and Eppley Airfield.

Three useful districts

Old Market, arts district, or north downtown

Old Market

First visits, restaurant choice, and evenings on foot

A room among or beside the Old Market keeps brick warehouse blocks, Gene Leahy Mall, and much of the downtown dinner circuit within an easy walk. The zoo still requires a drive or rideshare south, and weekend street noise varies by block.

Downtown arts district

A quieter historic stay near the Old Market

The blocks around the Orpheum and Magnolia sit close enough for Old Market dinners while feeling slightly removed from its busiest corners. Confirm the exact walk, hotel parking, and any shuttle limits before reserving.

Convention and ballpark district

College World Series, arena events, and Eppley access

Hotels near CHI Health Center and Charles Schwab Field shorten event walks and the airport transfer. They sit north of the Old Market, so compare skybridge, shuttle, parking, and the nighttime walk rather than assuming every downtown stop is next door.

Missouri Riverfront beside downtown Omaha in the morning

Omaha distances

Downtown is compact; the full trip is not

Henry Doorly Zoo and Lauritzen Gardens sit south of downtown; Dundee and Benson pull west; Eppley Airfield lies northeast across airport roads. A downtown hotel still simplifies most evenings, but compare daily parking, in-and-out privileges, event closures, breakfast hours, pool access, and the exact walk back after dinner.

Current lodging choices

Three downtown properties with different advantages

Moxy sits inside the Old Market for restaurants and brick-street walks. Magnolia occupies the historic Aquila Court building near the Orpheum and arts district. Hilton connects to CHI Health Center by enclosed skybridge and runs an airport shuttle. Availability links carry current room types, total prices, and cancellation terms.

Best Overall Stay

Magnolia

Magnolia fills the historic Aquila Court building in Omaha’s downtown arts district, near the Orpheum Theater. Its boutique rooms, pet-friendly policy, and central location suit travelers who prefer older architecture to a convention hotel.

Upgrade Pick

Hilton Omaha

Hilton Omaha connects directly to CHI Health Center by enclosed skybridge and sits near Charles Schwab Field. An indoor pool and complimentary airport shuttle make it the convenient north-downtown choice for events and early flights.

Stay

Moxy Omaha Downtown

Moxy Omaha Downtown puts compact rooms and Bar Moxy inside the Old Market, close to Harney Street restaurants, brick storefronts, and Gene Leahy Mall. Choose it for an energetic lobby and a first evening largely on foot.

Continue the trip

The hotel district changes the walk after dinner

Old Market rooms favor restaurant choice and RiverFront access; north downtown favors the convention center, ballpark, and a shorter Eppley Airfield transfer. Every downtown choice still requires a separate ride to Henry Doorly Zoo.
